Candidates view professionalism and professional development as a career-long effort and responsibility.
I have selected two artifacts to demonstrate my comprehension of professionalism and professional development. The first is the environmental inventory used to complete the subsequent paper. Although I could not find the inventory I filled out, I was able to track down a blank form and the write-up I did. The assignment was to observe a teacher several times, fill out the inventory, then analyze findings and make suggestions. It was important for me to exhibit professionalism while present in my colleague's classroom. These observations gave me the opportunity to investigate this teacher's strategies for organizing physical space, gaining student attention, time and behavior management, routines, and instructional strategies. Following the observations, I reviewed the scores, summarized the information, and made recommendations in my write-up.
The second artifact is a self-evaluation I did at the end of my Reading Comprehension course. Self-reflection is an important part of professionalism and professional development. Teachers should not only learn from others, but also from themselves. Educators can examine their own learning and progress to create new goals.
